The Chief Engineer is responsible for supervising, developing and maintaining the physical structure as well as mechanical & operating systems of the hotel in the continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Responsibilities
- Provide day to day leadership to the team.
- Leads the maintenance staff to ensure that the building, equipment and grounds of the hotel are maintained in a safe, economical, efficient and attractive fashion, consistent with hotel and company policies and procedures.
- Plan and perform regularly scheduled inspections in order to direct and complete the work as outlined in the preventative maintenance program and special projects.
- Creating and implements programs for guest rooms, HVAC / RTUs, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, general building repairs i.
e. painting, drywall, doors & hardware.
- Monitors the level and quality of services performed by outside contractors in accordance with all lease agreements, service contracts and warranties
- Develop and maintain an energy conservation program to minimize expenses.
- Manage the basic sanitation requirements / controls and applications of relevant chemicals.
- Maintains emergency procedures and equipment and assists with the implementation of emergency procedures for the safety of guests and employees
- Conduct monthly inventories and analyze losses and need for purchasing to maximize employee productivity.
- Maintains accurate equipment records to include serial numbers and preventive maintenance programs of all equipment.
- Ensures timely response to maintenance requests for services by guests, employees and management with the goal of keeping the maximum number of rooms available for occupancy.
- Train and ensure that maintenance and other staff members are using proper documentation procedures and are aware of safety procedures including fire panels and electrical shut offs.
- Ensure life safety areas and required inspections are conducted i.e. fire alarm, sprinklers, smoke detectors, emergency lights etc.
- Take ownership of the department and be ready to step in and support employees as needed to ensure efficient operation.
- Perform duties, special assignments and projects as requested by management.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical training preferred
- 3+ years of progressive experience in a maintenance supervisory position in hospitality or similar industry
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools
- Must be able to understand and apply complex mechanical systems including HVAC, Mechanical / Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Drywall / Tile, Chillers, and basic construction
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary
- Must be hands-on with the daily maintenance of the hotel
- Ability to attend to guests, team members and management in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner which requires strong customer service as well as written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to speak, read, write and communicate in English to adequately perform the duties of the job
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize various project and be able delegate daily workload
- Ability to handle sensitive material with the utmost discretion and confidentiality
- Must be energetic, a self-starter, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Associates Degree in mechanical and electrical fields (HVAC, Mechanical / Electrical, Plumbing, Refrigeration, Drywall / Tile, Chillers, Boilers and basic construction) or equivalent work experience required
- Positive, outgoing and self-motivating individual with pleasant personality
- Ability to maintain a professional manner and appearance in all situations
