Job Summary
The Associate, Market Intelligence is a new role with Oldcastle’s Architectural Products Group (APG) that will support APG’s efforts to understand served and adjacent markets.
The role will focus on developing, leading, and sustaining an enduring process that evaluates the different drivers of end-use demand.
The ability to develop this knowledge will inform sales, capital investment and business development decisions.
Over the past several years, APG has placed an emphasis on gathering market intelligence from a wide range of sources. This position will leverage primary, secondary and third-party sources to develop a bottoms-up profile of key markets such as hardscapes, packaged products, and fencing.
The analysis will also consider the role of substitutive products and their implications on product conversion. The role will interface with Sales, Marketing, Commercial Excellence, and Business Development.
The position is an ideal fit for a self-driven business analyst or associate looking to join a dynamic, global, building materials company.
Success will require entrepreneurship, problem solving, grit, and thoughtful problem solving. The role is in person at APG’s head office in Atlanta.
Responsibilities
- Develop, lead, and sustain an enduring process for determining the size of served and adjacent markets.
- Determine drivers of end-use demand (RMI, New Residential, Commercial, etc) and their individual impact on overall market size.
- Conduct competitor and share analysis using TAM / SAM / SOM, forecasting with inputs by macro trends; support strategic planning processes.
- Leverage primary, secondary and third parties to collect information to inform decision making.
- Engage with 3rd party venders to conduct market studies.
- Assess historical and future conversion opportunities for substitutive products.
- Engage with stakeholders across APG to develop consensus and communicate implications.
- Provide market intelligence support for key organizational projects including acquisitions, new product development, major capital projects, significant change initiatives, etc.
- Communication findings with executive leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Marketing, Engineering, or Finance preferred.
- 1+ year of experience in any combination of finance, consulting, marketing, or business development.
- The candidate must have strength with financial modeling.
- Distinctive excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
- Desire to work in an entrepreneurial, face-paced environment.
- Distinctive communication skills (both oral and written).
- Travel up to 20%.
