Posting Summary Position Title Career Skills Coach (Career Forward) - Part-time Temporary Position Number 4941 Branch Community & Workforce Education Division Workforce Education Department Career Placement Job Description The Coach will coordinate, track and deliver services related to counseling and career advising, and administer Nation Career Readiness Certifications (NCRC) tests to community organizations and American Jobs Center Partners.

Services will include but are not limited to test administration, development of career plans, implementation of KeyTrain Modules, placement support, linkages with MCC and community resources, and tracking client progress and outcomes.

The Coach will work with Workforce Innovation Division, MCC Credit Programs / Student Services and Adult Basic Education faculty and staff to identify employment opportunities and educational pathways and develop talent pipelines for business and industry.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS :

1. Administers Nation Career Readiness Certifications (NCRC) to community organizations and American Jobs Center Partners.

2. Develops individualized Career Plans by coordinating the assessment of student participants’ educational and career goals, skills, experience, and needs;

providing educational and career advising.

3. Coordinates career services workshops on various career-related topics such as resume writing, interview skills, online job searches, and networking for jobs.

4. Schedules appointments for individuals to complete assessments and intake processes.

5. Maintains security of all assessment instruments and intake documents.

6. Provides prospective students with general information about College programs and services.

7. Provide or facilitates individualized mentoring support which focuses on WorkKeys training programs through KeyTrain modules.

8. Coordinates referrals to / from project partners and college resources to assist students in successful completion of educational and career goals.

9. Coordinates with internal staff and faculty and industry to identify and establish opportunities for cooperative education, internships, apprenticeships, and employment in jobs.

10. Serves as a proctor for certification programs; establish assessment accommodations or exceptions for candidates with documented Individual Education Plan (IEP).

11. Coordinates with external partners to schedule and facilitate a multitude of training certifications with local agencies and schools.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

1. Knowledge of conducting tests.

2. Knowledge of student advising procedures as it relates to ESL, NCRC, Smarter Measures, and other testing facility functions.

3. Knowledge of College policies and procedures.

4. Skill in communication, both written and orally, along with excellent spelling, grammar, and editing skills.

5. Skill in resolving problems and answering questions.

6. Proficient interpersonal skills to collaboratively interact with internal and external contacts.

7. Strong skills and aptitude with communications and office technologies, for delivering workshops, updating online resources, engaging in online virtual education environments, and tracking, aggregating and reporting individual and service data.

8. Ability to pay close attention to detail.

9. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

10. Ability to provide direction and support to internal and external contacts.

11. Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.

12. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with diverse internal and external constituents.

13. Ability to ensure privacy and candidate compliance during testing, reporting breach of security or irregularities to the appropriate parties when necessary.

14. Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.

15. Follow policies and procedures outlines by Nebraska Department of Education, Nebraska Department of Labor, and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
