The Sr. Manager, Payroll Operations is responsible for overseeing payroll processing operations and ensuring seamless payroll processing for the organization.
This role requires a deep understanding of payroll regulations and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize payroll operations.
The Sr. Manager will work closely with HR, Finance, IT, and other departments to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in payroll processing.
Key Responsibilities :
Payroll Operations Management :
- Lead and manage end-to-end payroll operations for multiple organizations in multiple pay period schedules, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient processing.
- Manage payroll cycles, including regular payroll, off-cycle payroll, bonuses, and corrections.
- Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsand company policies.
- Maintain and monitor payroll data integrity, including employee compensation, tax deductions, and benefits.
Compliance and Reporting :
- Provide accurate payroll reporting and analytics to management, Finance, and HR teams.
- Prepare and submit necessary payroll reports and filings, including W-2s, tax payments, and audit requests.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll tax laws, benefits, and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and tax regulations, including FLSA, tax withholding, and wage garnishment.
Team Leadership :
- Supervise and mentor payroll team members, ensuring effective execution of payroll tasks and ongoing professional development.
- Provide training and support to the payroll team and other stakeholders regarding Workday Payroll functionality and best practices.
- Foster a collaborative and solution-oriented environment for the payroll team and cross-functional departments.
Cross-Department Collaboration :
- Work closely with HR, Finance, Benefits, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll processes with other systems.
- Collaborate on the implementation of new policies, systems, and processes related to payroll and HR operations.
- Participate in cross-functional projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and system migrations, to ensure payroll requirements are met.
Qualifications : Education :
Education :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or arelated field (or equivalent experience).
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
Experience :
- Minimum of 7-10 years of payroll experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience with Workday Payroll preferred, similar system experience will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll laws and tax regulations.
- Experience managing multi-state payroll and working in a multi-employer organization is required.
Skills :
- Expertise in Workday Payroll and timekeeping a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to lead and develop a team of payroll professionals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other payroll reporting tools.
