Job Summary :
The Kitchen Prep I team member is responsible for producing a variety of cold and hot meal components for children under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and other federal child nutrition programs.
They will assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen environment in partnership with all other kitchen staff. N1 Kitchen team members receive guidance for day-to-day operations from the Cold / Hot Kitchen Leads.

Job Responsibilities and Duties :
- Positive approach to daily tasks that improves Company culture.
- Learn the USDA meal patterns to correctly prepare foods in proper amounts.
- Commits to a fast-paced, high-yield production line.
- Follow the recipes and use correct tools as needed.
- Understands and adheres to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards during food preparation, service, and clean up.
- Assists in maintaining safe & clean garage and storage area(s).
- Breakdown, removal, and disposal of food packaging / trash.
- Adheres to the N1 HACCP, ensuring food safety & preventing cross contamination.
- Accurately prepare food for children with food allergies and sensitivities.
- Assist with dishwashing when necessary.
- Maintains professional appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the N1 Handbook
- May end their workday serving at a school. (if applicable)
- Understands and upholds company handbook.
- Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Possess High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Food Handlers Card.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Detail-oriented, solutions-based problem solving.
- Able to count large quantities of products accurately.
- Able to follow directions.
- Able to use various kitchen equipment and appliances safely and correctly.
- Excellent attendance.
- Committed and dependable for early morning start times. ( 4-6am).
- Positive, team-based approach.
- Be able to receive, read, and understand N1 documents.
- DPS-issued, Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Physical Requirements :
Perform routine physical activities including standing longer than 6 hours, walking, squatting, lift 50 pounds, exposure to extreme heat and / or cold, operate and use food service equipment;
drive company vehicle to fulfill job duties, when applicable.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's & customer’s facilities.
- Can withstand environment and maintain focus with a high noise level and considerable sensory stimulation.
Job Preferences :
- 1-year prior customer service experience
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaker
- Valid AZ driver’s license, as well as maintaining a clean driving record.
Salary Range :
FLSA Classification Non-exempt
$15.50-$17.00 per hour.
Seasonal Position as hours greatly decrease / cease during summer, Spring, Fall & Winter breaks. Part-time is also available.
