Description
The Recall Program Coordinator is an integral part the Supply Chain Management process who has high initiative, discipline, and a thorough understanding of medical supplies and equipment.
Will work closely with clinicians and supply chain team members to ensure that product recalls and defects are quickly addressed and communicated properly throughout the organization in a timely manner to enforce compliance with patient safety goals and Joint Commission requirements.
Monitors alerts from ECRI, Vizient, Captis, Watchdog Alert reports and our internal defective product events to identify trends.
Major Responsibilities
1. Manages, communicates, and owns the recall and defective supply / equipment program for the hospital system within designated timeframe minus food, equipment, and pharmaceuticals
2. Works with designated resources, team members, and systems to help identify substitute products and collaborates with the clinicians depending on the severity of the recall / defect
3. Collects, collates, and analyzes data to identify trends in defective product issues reported through tracking system;
works with clinicians and units to return defective products for quality analysis and determine next steps in staff education and training
4. Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers to ensure their adherence to quality standards and timely response to any product issues
5. Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to product safety and recalls; continuously evaluate and improve the product recall process to increase efficiency
6. Maintain and improve recall and defective supply standard operating procedures including process communication plans and workflows
7. Stays up to date on industry trends and developments related to product recalls and safety concerns
8. Assists the Distribution department in the completion of hospital supply management
9. Adheres to regular and predictable attendance
10. Performs other duties and supply related functions as assigned by the Manager; completes tasks in accordance with leadership’s prioritization and direction to meet changing hospital needs
Education and Learning :
REQUIRED
High school or equivalency
DESIRED
Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
Work Experience : REQUIRED
REQUIRED
1 year of previous experience in a supply chain related role
DESIRED
2-3 years previous experience in healthcare in an inventory or supply related role. Familiarity with clinical equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Data gathering and analysis, producing reports, teamwork, ability to learn new systems, and process and system improvement
