Job Overview :
This position is a nurse with advanced education that collaborates with nursing, other healthcare team members as well as non-nursing departments to attain professional nursing excellence throughout the nursing division.
This position has responsibility for leading, directing, coordinating, and facilitating the activities and initiatives associated with successfully attaining and sustaining professional excellence including Magnet Recognition designation for the TriHealth nursing division.
This position utilizes highly developed critical thinking skills to assist the Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and the Nursing Leadership Council in establishing realistic goals, facilitating initiatives and problem solving related to the nursing division.
Job Requirements :
Master's Degree in Nursing
Certification in specialty area within 2 years of eligibility
Registered Nurse
Thorough understanding of Magnet Recognition Program and standards
Computer literate, including Internet, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader
Graphics
Document scanning
Manipulation of PDF files and keyboarding
Membership in related professional organization required
5-7 years experience Clinical in Nursing staff nurse
5-7 years experience Progressive Leadership in Nursing Project management skills required
Critical thinking skills

Well developed communication skills verbal and written Able to work effectively on simultaneous projects and initiatives
Job Responsibilities :
Leads projects and initiatives that address overall improvement in the nursing division. Provides a systematic approach to project management and implementation.
Serves as overall project manager for initiatives including attaining and maintaining Magnet status. Facilitates gap analysis and participates in prioritizing and developing system-wide nursing goals, involving nursing management / staff and non-nursing departments.
Promotes and supports the participation of nursing staff and leadership in continuous improvement, and an environment of change.
Organizes and facilitates the Magnet Recognition Site Visit process, including readiness, developing tools, agenda, and post-visit evaluation.
Works collaboratively to assess and identify resources needed to implement projects and address deficiencies, and influences problem solving and decision making.
Collaborates in the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives that impact nursing excellence. Acts as consultant to nursing areas and other departments in relation to nursing initiatives.
Consults with other departments regarding initiatives that impact TriHealth system, and proactively works with them to streamline data collection processes.
Applies educational principles and skills to educate nursing management and staff and serves as an advocate and mentor.
Utilizes multiple means of communication. Promotes best practices, improves processes and educates staff / management / physicians.
Highly visible including presentations and written material for staff, assisting with external and internal publications.
Organizes and facilitates special events related to Professional Excellence and Magnet Recognition. Is a standing member of Nursing Leadership Council.
Leads committees Nursing Forum, councils, and task forces (., Professional Excellence Steering Committee, PE Champions).
Provides regular reports to the TriHealth CNE and site CNOs. Critiques research and other publications. Answers internal and external inquiries pertaining to Magnet status.
Documents evidence of meeting and exceeding Magnet Recognition standards following guidelines created by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Systematically gathers evidence from various departments needed for Magnet Recognition. Establishes and maintains an effective system to create and organize written documentation.
Critiques and edits documents as needed for Magnet submission. Works closely with colleagues to ensure documentation demonstrates excellence and maintains one voice.
Pursues opportunities for professional growth. Identifies knowledge and skill needs through self-assessment and peer review.
Defines goals for professional growth. Participates in a variety of educational activities in order to maintain and increase competence.
Meets and maintains eligibility requirements for specialty certification. Supports research that promotes evidence-based, clinically effective and efficient, nurse-sensitive patient outcomes and other healthcare outcomes.
Identifies areas of clinical and administrative inquiry suitable for nurse researchers. Identifies and shares industry trends and competencies in nursing administration and nursing practice..
