Job Summary
Position reports to the Director of the East Valley Spay / Neuter Clinic and ultimately to the Dean. The faculty member will primarily participate in providing high quality, high volume spay / neuter (HQHVSN), wellness care and teaching clinical shelter medicine and surgery in the East Valley Spay / Neuter Clinic in Los Angeles.
The faculty member is responsible for providing content expertise in shelter medicine, and incorporation of this discipline in the curriculum.
The faculty member will serve as a college wide resource in shelter medicine and high quality, high volume spay / neuter.
This position will assist the Director of East Valley Spay / Neuter Clinic in fulfilling the mission of the hospital. In the absence of the Director, this individual will provide administrative guidance for the hospital.
This position is located in Van Nuys, CA. Required Qualifications - DVM degree and license to practice in California.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- 5+ years clinical experience
- Knowledge of and experience with high volume, high quality, spay / neuter programs and high volume, low cost veterinary services
- Experience with student training and supervision
- Experience with clinical graduate training program management, i.e. internships, residency programs, etc.
- Demonstrated record of relationship building within the animal sheltering community
- Ability to orally communicate with others, both in person and by telephone. Ability to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, students and outside contacts.
- Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.
- Organizational skills necessary in prioritizing workload and delegating responsibility.
- Knowledge of educational needs for contemporary veterinary practice. Preferred Qualifications List comments regarding work hours Hours may vary, up to 4 hours a day, 1 day a week.
