Cost Accountant

SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Cost Accountant will work closely with plant operations and administrative departments to communicate and optimize financial performance.
JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Compiles and sorts financial information to establish and maintain the standard cost and perpetual inventory systems
Responsible for setting standards for raw material cost, labor routings and roll-ups and providing recommendations for cost efficiency
Performs a variety of accounting tasks, applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting records
Is conscious about maintaining records in organized and detailed fashion
Works on special projects regarding cost monitoring and estimating
Prepares annual budget for manufacturing facility, reviews monthly Actual vs. Budget spending reports and discusses variances with plant manager.
Supports plant management.
Maintains Year-End files for Inventory, accompanies Auditor during Perpetual and Non-Perpetual Audits.
Monitors non-perpetual inventory for changes to month end quantities, determinations on changing to perpetual status.
Compiles and maintains daily production records at the plant level

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA), major field Accounting.
- CPA a plus but not required.
- Two years of experience in the field of accounting or related experience preferred, with experience in a manufacturing or public accounting setting a plus.
- Proven track record of progressive financial management support experience and professional integrity, with an ability to responsibly handle confidential business information.
- Excellent computer software skills including Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Excel, with advanced Excel capabilities a plus.
- Working experience with a manufacturing ERP system and a financial consolidations system is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Critical thinker who can work independently, with strong problem-solving and project management skills and is comfortable with ambiguity and will proactively seek answers through research and questions.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse work group at all levels of the organization and across countries.
