Amotec is currently supporting a search for a Distribution Manager . Located outside of Naperville, IL, our client is an industry-leading manufacturer.
As a Distribution Manager , you will be responsible for strategizing, coordinating, and overseeing the efficient flow of receiving, storage, and shipment processes for two manufacturing sites, ensuring optimal inventory control and operational continuity.
Distribution Manager Responsibilities :
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of 20-25 employees across various functional areas, including receiving, order filling, shipping, transporting, and inventory.
- Ensure timely delivery of products to customers and remain accessible off-hours to resolve critical issues promptly.
- Oversee performance management processes, including personnel evaluations and disciplinary actions, while fostering team development.
- Liaise with freight carriers to schedule pickups, coordinate special orders, and track shipments, maintaining professional relationships.
- Develop work schedules, ensure their implementation, and assign tasks efficiently to meet operational goals.
- Conduct training on forklift and safe PID operations, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines.
- Implement motivational plans to drive team performance and ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Stay updated on trucking regulations and oversee the safe operation and maintenance of the company fleet.
- Actively engage in Lean continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and eliminate waste.
Distribution Manager Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and management experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- 3+ years of experience managing warehouse / distribution operations, with 15-20+ employees.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
