Position Details
Tilson is looking for a full time Safety Manager to conduct project specificsupport in Las Vegas NV for Tilson’s safety program.
This position requires up to 10% nationwide travel, mostly regional and planned. This position must be present daily and as a result should be located within distance of the project location.
The ideal person for this positionknows how to drive a positive safety culture, building upon our outstanding safety record.
This position reports to the Regional Safety Manager and works closely with local Outside Plant Management, assisting them with the implementation of operationally led safety within their team.
The primary focus is to support Tilson’s existing safety program, with special emphasis on horizontal drilling and microtrenching operations performed internally and via Tilson subcontractors.
Responsibilities :
Act as senior safety representative to the Project Management and Construction teams
Partner with senior project leadership on safe work planning, hazard identification, hazard mitigation and training for the success of the project
Ensures overall project certification maintenance and compliance
Conducts weekly reviews of internal team safety performance
Prepares material to be shared at weekly subcontractor meetings
Provide a local resource for subcontractor oversight
Plan and implement training for employees in worksite safety practices
Maintain First Aid / CPR / AED training coordination with office as requested
Assists Safety Department and supervisors in investigating accidents and developing measures to prevent recurrences
Work with all Safety, Program / Project and Construction Management leadership and office supervisors to conduct PPE Hazard Assessments as they relate to the work being conducted.
Recommend appropriate PPE based on those assessments.
Work with Safety Team to develop / refine Task Hazard Analysis of site tasks
Supports creation and briefing of company safety committee meetings related to OSP
Assist in implementation of the Tilson Behavior Observation Program
Assist, plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT)
Conduct on-call audit / inspection at various offices / sites as part of a planned program or internal need.
Be or become the subject matter expert regarding microtrenching, horizontal drilling, associated outside plant operations and specific requirements of the project
Remain current with telecommunication industry regulatory requirements
Perform office and site inspections and assists management in inspection of workplaces to assure safe and healthful conditions for workers and subcontractors.
Prepares appropriate notices for management to issue for abatement of any identified hazards
Prepares and presents Monday Morning Safety Meeting material as required
Qualifications :
An excellent safety record
Bachelor’s degree, strongly preferred or demonstrated 10-15years’ experience in safety, training or compliance
CHST designation a plus
Documented safety management training
Current OSHA 500 certificate and training experience in OSHA 10 / 30
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable briefing groups
Demonstrated experience in conducting field audits and accident investigations
Fully proficient in the MS Office suite
Tilson highly values transferable skills from military experience
Able to travel and work in varying and harsh weather conditions
Valid driver’s license
Preferred but not required : all additional safety related certifications or training / instructor certifications

Forklift / manlift instructor
Ability to develop in-house training for various topics
NFPA70E knowledge
Office / field ergonomics
Must be at least 21 years of age to meet Tilson’s driving eligibility requirements.

Tilson leads with integrity around pay transparency; as part of the compensation plan for this position you can expect a pay range of :
$85,000.00 - $115,000.00
