POSITION TITLE : Teacher - Math Interventionist

PURPOSE STATEMENT :
The Jefferson City School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Math Interventionist to aid in serving students in the district.
The Math Interventionist is a highly qualified math teacher who works specifically with students who require strategic and intensive intervention.
The focus of the interventionist is to develop a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in math.
The goal of the interventionist is to ensure that the students are able to master grade level standards by providing specific support with computation, fluency and problem solving while developing a deep conceptual understanding.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based math instruction specifically related to elementary students.
- Understands how to collaboratively plan with staff to effectively analyze and use data to implement intervention programs.
- Understands how to use technology for instructional planning, i.e. creating reports and using data to plan lessons.
- Continuously monitors progress of students receiving intervention services, in order to adjust instructional practice and student grouping.
Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers regarding alignment between classroom instruction and interventions.
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the District.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Minimum Qualifications)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- KNOWLEDGE In the content area is required; must be able to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include : concepts of effective curriculum design and implementation;
- student testing methodologies; statistical analysis; pertinent codes, policies, regulations and / or laws; concepts of grammar and punctuation;
and business etiquette.
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include : applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment;
using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

- and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances;

RESPONSIBILITY :
Ensure that the students are able to master grade level standards by instructing students who have not met math standards in the areas of computation, fluency, and problem solving.
EXPERIENCE :
- 3-5 years of job-related experience in math instruction.
- Experience and training in administering assessments and analyzing data to drive instruction.
- Proven track record of instructing diverse learners, including English Language Learners and Special Education students, in the area of mathematics.
EDUCATION :
- Current Missouri content and grade level certification for the position
- Master’s degree in job-related area, preferred

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : some lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling.
Generally, the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking and 5% standing.
