As a Staff Electronic Hardware Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of high reliability ignition products, solutions, and systems.

Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Requires mastery of a body of theoretical electrical engineering knowledge.

Requires a well-developed foundation of functional skills and knowledge of relevant technologies.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, modifying, and evaluating electronic parts, components, and integrated circuitry for engine ignition systems.
  • Determine design approaches and parameters; analyze equipment to establish validation approach, conduct experimental tests & evaluate results.

Common skill sets include Analog, Digital, Mixed Signal, Power Conversion, Magnetics design, and pulse power circuitry.

  • Develops new solutions with minimal guidance, and / or in a team setting or based upon precedents in the organizations.
  • Serves as best practice / quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Works together with business leadership at various levels.
  • Specifies needs, communicates about project approach and presents outcomes of research done.
  • Delivers products as part of a cross functional multidisciplinary team.
  • Leads analytical and design activities using proven technologies and vested approaches and methods.
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational / product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.

Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.

Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.

Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 9 years of experience in engineering).
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.

S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with analog, digital and pulse power circuitry.
  • High voltage electronic components, printed circuit board assemblies and packaging.
  • Experience with magnetic components design and development.
  • Strong power electronics knowledge & background
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
