Position Summary : The EMS Testing Evaluator is responsible for evaluating program students' skills and performance to ensure competency of the National Registry of EMT's skills and assessments necessary for certification.

Compensation : $125 for event
Schedule includes evenings and weekends
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities : Within the scope of college policies and procedures, this position :
Shares expert knowledge in all established testing areas of the EMT or Paramedic national curriculum
Evaluates students performing skills or assessments to determine minimum competency
Assesses students' knowledge and understanding of curriculum, including determining if student was successful or unsuccessful in performing a particular skill or assessment
Identifies critical criteria on various testing scenarios
Documents all findings on the required forms and grade sheets as required by the program and the National Registry of EMTs
Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience; Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education and Experience Requirements :
Two years as a Certified EMT or Paramedic in the State of Arizona or National Registry or two years’ experience with State or National Registry testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Knowledge of current EMT or Paramedic testing procedures in the state of Arizona
Knowledge in the specific skills and assessments necessary for EMT or Paramedic certification
Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
Ability to identify critical criteria during testing stations
Ability to accurately determine successful and unsuccessful attempts at procedures and assessments during National Registry testing
Ability to accurately document all findings of the student performance during testing
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate actions to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work Environment : Work is performed in a variety of environments, ranging from standard climate controlled rooms to outdoors, low light conditions, environments with extremes in temperatures, exposure to loud noises, sirens, moisture, slippery conditions and other hazards that simulate environments consistent with medical emergencies.
May require evening or weekend work.
Physical Requirements : Essential functions of this position require : lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.
Sedentary Work : Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body;
involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
Mental Application : Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important
