Be Inspired By the Work You Do
At OneWorld, we believe that improving patient health outcomes requires addressing the social determinants of health, such as education.
For this reason, OneWorld operates the Learning Community Center of South Omaha (LCCSO). The LCCSO works with children and families to challenge the opportunity gap through early childhood education, family engagement, and future teacher preparation.
Our goal is to measurably improve educational outcomes for children and families.
We are seeking a mission-driven Substitute English as a Second Language Instructor to join our team!
The LCCSO's Substitute ESL Instructor is primarily responsible for teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to groups of parents with varying English proficiency and literacy levels.
The Substitute ESL Instructor collaborates with the Learning Community Center's instructional manager to activate and support long-term strategies for helping parents better support their children’s education.
This is a PRN position located in South Omaha (23rd & M, location and hours may vary).
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Bilingual in English and another language preferred; ability to speak basic Spanish preferred.
- Related teaching experience and certification in teaching English as a Second Language required (ex : ESL Endorsement, TESOL / TEFL certificate);
State of Nebraska teaching certificate with public school teaching experience preferred.
- Ability to accommodate the learning needs of non-traditional, diverse student populations.
- Outstanding personal / interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with technology in facilitating instruction.
- Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
While ESL for Parents is an important part of the LCCSO, the center also offers children and families from South Omaha opportunities to obtain other essential skills proven to improve children’s outcomes in elementary school and beyond.
Classes for parents include Circle of Security Parenting, GED, nutritious cooking, and computer training. Early childhood classes for young children are provided on-site during the hours that the parents are in class.
The LCCSO is nationally recognized; we are a member of the Ascend at the Aspen Institute’s network of quality programs based on the 2-Generation Approach, and we were also honored by the White House as a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education.
