About Campus Without Walls

Success in school is too often determined by a student’s zip code where they live and the school to which they are assigned.

Campus Without Walls (CWW) leverages the power of All-Star Teachers and technology to remove structural barriers that limit access to a high-quality education.

CWW connects classrooms, educators, and students to each other and a broader education ecosystem so that zip codes and school assignments no longer limit a student’s educational opportunity.

This innovative program started in 2020 as a collaborative initiative developed by several nonprofit leaders at BUILD.org, the Rennie Center for Educational Research and Policy, Boston Opportunity Agenda, and Boston Public Schools.

Through CWW, students can take courses taught by All-Star Lead Teachers across the state, for course credit. Teacher Fellows can also partner with these All-Stars for curriculum, coaching, and mentoring.

In its first three years of operations, CWW has worked with teachers from a consortium of 50 district, charter, parochial, and private schools across Massachusetts reaching approximately 1,500 students a year

CWW is now ready for is next exciting phase. By July 2024, CWW will be fully established as an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization The co-founders are now seeking a dynamic leader who can take Campus Without Walls from a promising model to a statewide organization.

The long-term goal is for CWW to become fully embedded in school districts across the state of Massachusetts, and then to replicate the model in other states across the country.

The organization currently has a budget of $1M, and major past and present supporters include the New Schools Venture Fund, The Boston Foundation, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, and the Redstone Family Foundation.
