Description
The Public Records Specialist is primarily responsible for processing public records products related to employment screening.
This position is accountable for working within the federal, state, client and Paycom reporting guidelines to provide accurate background screening results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts criminal analysis of applicants using electronic public access of both courts and government agencies
- Reviews and analyzes criminal court data and key identifiers in addition to inputting into the background screening report according to FCRA reporting guidelines
- Acts proactively to identify new jurisdictional databases for verification
- Identifies and escalates data requiring further investigation and research
- Acts in an investigative manner to consistently locate the applicable source of information
- Researches and verifies facts provided by candidates to ensure the screening process is completed in a timely manner
- Maintains an in-depth working knowledge of all current reporting guidelines
- Completes escalated / rejected requests requiring further investigation
- Ensures accurate and prompt turnaround on all reports
- Works under direct supervision
- Responds to routine questions and problems within standards and guides
- Refers more complex issues to higher levels
- Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job
- Adheres to all policies of Paycom, including those outlined in the Paycom Employee Handbook
- Maintains regular attendance as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education / Certification :
High School diploma or equivalent
Experience :
0-1 year of data entry experience
Skills / Abilities :
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines
- Ability to research and verify information using a computer, the internet and a telephone
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to interpret information received both verbally and in writing and input into the software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Certification :
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field
- Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) certification
