Conducts biological experiments under direction of management

Performs structured work assignments

Extracts information from existing databases or literature and prepares information for biological analysis

Conducts research and testing on basic and applied principles of microbial, plant, human, and animal life, including : origin, anatomy, and function of biological systems in both simple and complex settings

Collects and studies biological data to focus on structure, function, behavior, and tailored application

Completes technical evaluations and / or assessments of biologics, biological mechanisms, or biological properties

Specializes in Microbiology : Investigates the growth, structure, development, physiology, and other characteristics of microscopic organisms to include at both the molecular and cellular level, as well as their ecology and function in mixed communities

Genetics, Molecular / Cellular Biology : Studies and modifies the genetic system of organisms and singular and / or multi-cellular organisms

Understanding and engineering the function of an organism and humans at the genetic level including the expression of those genes into functioning RNAs and proteins and response to intracellular and extracellular stimuli

Virology : Study of viruses; Could include, but not limited to submicroscopic, parasitic particles of genetic material contained in a protein coat and virus-like agents

Performs assignments by compiling and evaluating test data and planning test experiments, including : determination of test procedures, limits, and instrumentation

Analyzes test data and results to determine acceptability or application of test item / system or validity of test data

Interprets results and writes components of technical reports

Troubleshoots the testing process when expected results are not obtained

Recommends paths forward to resolve analysis problems

Completes assigned project work within schedule and budget constraints

Interacts primarily with internal clients

Modifies existing processes or testing methods to improve quality or efficiency

May support business development efforts led by others

Assists in training new hire technical staff

Bachelor's degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

Top 3 criteria / must haves for the position

Self-motivated, BA or BS and 2 years of experience, good organization

Are there any technologies that candidates absolutely have to have experience with? Experience performing qPCR or DNA sequencing
