Mechanical Design Engineer

This position will be onsite at our client's Tucson, AZ testing facility working with their mining equipment.

Mechanical Design Engineer

This position is for a Design Engineer for the Engine Installation and Cooling Installation team supporting Large Mining Trucks.

This position applies general job duties listed above to a design scope which includes a high level of integration of various components and subsystems in the area of engine and cooling installations.

Responsibilities :

• Creating concepts and designing complex engineering projects for Large Mining Trucks (LMT)
• Working with manufacturability teams resolving problems with assembly line manufacturing
• Responsibility for meeting scheduled dates of both new product designs as well as legacy product improvements
• Coordinating product testing with prototype build and test areas
• Occasional travel to regional Proving Grounds site to solve design problems or evaluate a product improvement

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an accredited Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related technical degree.
• 5 or more years of progressive engineering assignments to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics required. Knowledge of engineering processes, drawing standards and specifications required.
• Proficiency in Creo (Pro / E) modeling and simulation tools (or equivalent).

Desired Attributes :

• Knowledge and experience with problem solving analysis - determining root cause, troubleshooting, concept generation, etc.
• 5 or more years in progressive engineering assignments to gain a mastery of complex engineering and manufacturability concepts.
• Product Development experience including product design, validation testing and / or simulation.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams to deliver proven, high-quality, cost-effective designs to production on time.
• Mechanical aptitude with ability to develop product concepts.
