JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
Regal Boats seeks a highly skilled and motivated EH&S Manager with a strong background in safety and environmental regulations and the manufacturing industry.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing safety protocols, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA & NFPA guidelines, and implementing environmentally sustainable practices across our operations.
Policy & Program Development
Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety and environmental policies, procedures, and programs per OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations and industry best practices.
Inspections & Audits
- Evaluate work environments for hazards to identify health, safety, and environmental risks; develop risk assessments and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety and environmental audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
Training & Education
- Lead safety training sessions for team members, emphasizing proper procedures and the importance of adhering to safety protocols.
- Conduct new hire orientation safety sections and special projects as assigned.
- Lead in creating awareness of safe behavior and teach required skills for working safely.
Incident Management & Investigation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and develop strategies to prevent future occurrences.
- Be proactive in preventing safety-related incidents.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety Culture
- Ensure Regal is compliant and current on OSHA, EPA & NFPA regulations and proactively adapt safety practices to ensure compliance.
- Drive a culture of safety awareness and accountability throughout the organization with Team Leaders and Safety Teams.
- Ensure that workplaces are safe and team members follow proper safety procedures.
- Ensure manufacturing operations are per Regal's Safety Standards.
- Assist the facilities management team in ensuring that required regulatory permits are acquired and reports are submitted to regulatory agencies.
- Ensure team members have the proper tools and equipment, including PPE, to work safely and prevent accidents.
Environmental Sustainability
- Monitor and manage environmental sustainability efforts (air permitting, reporting, waste reporting, etc.).
- Identify opportunities to minimize the company’s environmental footprint and support the development of eco-friendly initiatives.
- Guide Regal on environmental compliance and sustainability matters.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience as a safety leader in the manufacturing industry (Marine preferred).
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NFPA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively lead training sessions and interact with team members at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, analyze data, and recommend practical solutions.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing environmentally sustainable practices.
- Tech-savvy skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other relevant software tools.
- Conversational English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH) or environmental management (e.g., CEM, CEP).
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies and auditors.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to drive change through innovative ideas.
- Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
Work Environment
Must be able to work in a non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that a team member must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.
The team member must frequently climb into and out of the boats using stairs. The team member must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds, work 10-hour days with most of the time being on their feet, and work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
