Purpose
- Ensure Hyundai & Genesis brands (and accessories) continue in vehicle quality leadership as measured by Syndicated Customer Surveys, Media Reviews and Warranty Performance.
- Provide HMNA / Voice of the Customer during New Model vehicle target and development activities.
Major Responsibilities
Lead and participate in cross functional new model coordination with Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) units (i.e., R&D / HATCI and Quality / NAQC) as well as HMA / GMA Service Teams and other HMA / GMA groups (i.
e., Distributions, Product Planning, Parts etc.).
- Aid in the identification and investigation of new model vehicle technical conditions and reporting to the appropriate organization in the US and / or Korea for awareness and fast resolution.
- Establish Clear knowledge of competitive set vehicle(s) and market / customer expectations for target / benchmark setting.
- Maintain Preproduction fleet including sourcing, updating, testing, evaluation, benchmarking, troubleshooting, and diagnosing, including appropriate reporting / tracking methods (including vendor communication) for proper resolution prior to SOP.
- Participate in market research / customer clinic activities, including establishment / submission of questions for appropriate feedback / insight.
- Establish appropriate vehicle development contacts at HMC, Factories, and participate in vehicle build evaluations (P1, P2, Factory Tooling, M, SOP, etc.).
- Develop appropriate reporting documentation in a timely manner. (Trip / Internal Reports, Design Information Reports (DIR), Once Voice, etc.).
- Assist in the development of product and company branding strategies.

- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Drive engineering fleet vehicles to :
- Monitor and clearly identify / define / validate, Hyundai & Genesis Vehicle Reviews (HVR / GVR), Customer Quality Index (CQI), CR Brand and Reliability, and JDPA VDS / IQS concerns to implement countermeasures to developing (New Model) vehicles.
- Maintain product knowledge and gain customer / field issue complaint understanding.
- Evaluate, Troubleshoot and Diagnose new model development vehicles and ensure proper documentation and communication to affiliates for proper resolution prior to mass production.
- Identify, Develop, Evaluate, and Validate development vehicle countermeasures.
Authority
- Author and publish complex technical documents / trip reports using PowerPoint and other similar tools.
- Issue Benchmarking, Target setting, Master Car, Proto development / validation Reports.
- Maintain accurate Master Issue list of all identified development items & proposed / developed C / M (NAQC NMQV) during complete vehicle development cycle.
- Lead Formal ride and Drive events including target requirements, local road evaluation, competitive set analysis.
- Lead One Voice development / submission on vehicle specific requirements (IQS / CR / CQI / Sales) in HMNA markets.
- Provide HMNA voice of the customer during pre / final Chassis and PT evaluation events for SOP release.
- Establish targets / implement emerging / innovative technology during vehicle development cycle to ensure implementation at Start of Production.
Education
Must be a high school graduate
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Applied Statistics / Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering preferred.
Master’s degree a plus
Related Experience
- Four or more years of directly related work experience or equivalent.
- Automotive Retail and Wholesale experience preferred.
Skills / Knowledge
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
- Thorough automotive technical knowledge required.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Strong analytical / problem solving ability.
- Strong data management / general and statistical analysis / reporting capabilities.
- Strong organizational skills yet flexible to accomplish objectives that are often subject to change.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and direction.
