Job Responsibilities
- Assist the buyer in purchasing productive and non-productive materials and services
- Work independently with decisions made based on established policies and procedures
- Supervision available to handle unusual situations
- Maintains records of prices and terms negotiated with supplier
- Maintains listing of reliable suppliers
- Responds to internal inquiries about vendors, price and availability of materials and tools, works to process Sales and CCA parts orders
- Confirms purchase orders to suppliers, collaborates with suppliers, customers, and plant floor on material / part issues
- Checks invoices
- Follows up on negotiated settlements regarding rejected or defective materials
- Advises supervision of unusual or questionable circumstances regarding source and availability of parts
- Adheres to unit and Corporate purchasing policies and procedures
- Frequent contact with others outside the work group
- Work on parts not placed list for Buyer or Senior Buyer
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge in JobBoss, ERAPA, SAP, EMS, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint Intermediate level
- Knowledge with Outlook or other email communication tool Intermediate level
- Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
- Good written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
- Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
- Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues
- Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
- Ability to read blueprints and to understand basic engineering documents
- Knowledge of commodities, materials and products being purchased
- Position related experience 5+ years
- Relevant auto industry experience required - Intermediate level
- Past GM work experience preferred Intermediate level
- Areas of expertise include : Purchasing, specifically Racing / Performance related vendors
Required Education / Training / Certifications / Licenses
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related Field, or 5+ years equivalent experience
- Position related experience : 5+ years
- Experience with GM systems if possible (SAP, Arriba) or production purchasing experience (MGOA MGOC)
- Consistency, not job hoppy on resume
- Someone who is open minded, has organizational skills
