Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties (95%)
- Organizational Development - Strategically partner with teams to meet current and future business needs, and champion a Peace Coffee culture that cultivates an equitable, inclusive, respectful and cooperative environment.
- Lead and implement Employee and Supervisor training & development
- Strategically manage employee recognition, motivation and engagement to foster desired behaviors and competencies
- Partner across the company in tactical and succession planning / development for functional teams to ensure they can meet their current needs and plans / goals for the future.
- Lead DEI work for the company, participate on the JEDI committee
- Serve as a member of the Management Team, partnering strategically across the organization. Meeting regularly, providing updates and leading HR initiatives.
Participate in annual strategic planning.
- HR Administration - Manage and oversee payroll systems, benefits administration and ensure legal compliance.
- Policy Administration - Manage, maintain and administer human resources policies and procedures, including keeping employee handbook updates.
- Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Oversees payroll and benefits administration, serving as a leader in strategic changes and partnering with the HR Specialist for timely and accurate completion.
- Partner with leadership in planning and budgeting for staff-related costs (payroll, benefits, training, development, etc.
Actively participates in the annual budget process.
- Ensure proper records management.
- HR Regulatory and Legal Compliance - Ensure Peace Coffee is complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements;
advising leadership on needed actions to maintain compliance.
- Ensure employee safety and health through worker's compensation policies, company safety policies, and coordination with committees.
- Human Capital Curator - Lead and facilitate the lifecycle of an employee and foster performance aligned with business objectives, behavioral competencies and individual development goals.
- Manage Employee Recruitment & Onboarding
- Manage, in partnership with supervisors, the sourcing, recruiting and staffing for all roles.
- Conduct new-employee orientation and manage the onboarding process, in partnership with the HR Specialist.
- Champion Performance Management & Total Rewards Programs
- Administer compensation and performance management programs, partnering with management to recommend changes as necessary.
- Strategically align and evaluate effectiveness of the tools / processes and ensure all are in support of company goals.
- Employee Relations & Retention
- Handle employee relations issues effectively by partnering with management and employees.
- Actively represent employee interests and perspective in business decisions.
- Provide Manager coaching and consulting
- Manage company Union responsibilities, ensure compliance with contract and lead investigations and negotiations.
- Manage HR Team and Budget
- Supervise the HR Specialist, includes hiring, training, job description maintenance, leading team meetings, managing priorities, encouraging continued development and growth, and providing feedback (annual review and regular feedback).
- Manages time, including : verifying labor hours for payroll, approving PTO (track on Vacation / Travel calendar and Time Management software), and creating / managing the absence coverage plan.
Works to manage overtime hours.
Manages the team and associated HR budgets, including annual budget planning and signing off on credit card expenses / reimbursements for the team.
Non-Essential Duties (5%)

Qualifications
Skills & Experience :
- Experience and knowledge that is required :
- Post-secondary degree (Bachelor's Degree or higher) in human resources or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
- Strong knowledge in and stays up to date on the HR areas of : Employee Relations, Performance Management / Coaching, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Leaves of Absence, Employment Laws and Unions.
- Experience working directly with employees in an environment that values diversity
- Minimum of 2 years of using a HRIS / Database to manage employee data (payroll processing, reports, applicant tracking, onboarding, etc.)
- Minimum of 2 years managing employee benefits (enrollments, changes, vendor relations, open enrollment, etc.)
- Experience that is preferred :
- Labor Union experience working in a manufacturing environment & with a labor union is highly preferred.
- Supervisory experience.
- Ascentis / UKG software experience.
- Active Professional HR Certification (HRCI or SHRM).
- Master's degree in a related field.

- High proficiency with computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive and Gmail required.

- The Human Resources team is responsible for Organizational Development, HR Administration and serves as the Human Capital Curator.
Physical Requirements
- This job operates in a clerical office setting, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This role requires the ability to sit or stand at a computer for extended periods of time.
- This role also requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary to access files.
