A stable, yet growing chemical manufacturer located in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago is seeking a Maintenance supervisor.
The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance within a chemical manufacturing facility.
The primary responsibility is to prevent interruptions in the manufacturing process due to equipment failure.
NOTE : This company has 2 openings. 1 on 2nd shift : 4pm - 12 am and 1 on 3rd shift : 12am - 8 am
Here are the key responsibilities and requirements :
Responsibilities :
- Inspect facilities periodically to identify maintenance needs.
- Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate tasks to technicians.
- Recruit, supervise, and train maintenance technicians.
- Hire and supervise tradesmen during installations, repairs, or maintenance (e.g., electricians, plumbers).
- Inspect and maintain building systems (heating, ventilation, etc.).
- Contribute to the development of the maintenance budget and ensure compliance.
- Monitor inventory of materials and equipment.
- Participate in coordination of projects (e.g., renovations).
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations.
Requirements and Skills :
- Proven experience as a maintenance supervisor or in a similar role.
- Strong technical knowledge of building systems (electrical, heating, etc.).
- Familiarity with health and safety practices and regulations.
- Budgeting and performance management skills.
- Excellent planning and leadership abilities.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency.
- High school diploma; a degree from a vocational school is a plus.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred
