Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the WCUCOM Recruiter and Records Specialist is responsible for supporting the functions of student services, particularly by recruiting students and maintaining Student Affairs documents / records.

- Assist the WCUCOM and WCU in achieving its mission;
- Travel in and out of state with overnight trips to colleges / universities and to local and national events to recruit students for WCUCOM;
- Serve as Student Advocate Association liaison;
- Oversee the WCUCOM promotional items supply to include ordering;
- Maintain WCUCOM trade show items and ensure proper check-out processes are followed;
- Assist students with the contact information needed for student physical and mental health resources;
- Complete the preparation of orientation / registration materials for new students;
- Collect registration materials from incoming COM students
- Oversee recording and filing of registration materials;
- Collect and distribute the mail for WCUCOM
- Coordinate student insurance documentation and collect documents to ensure that every COM student has health insurance coverage.
- Manage WCUCOM student health insurance policy under the guidance of the Associate Vice-President of Human Resources and Payroll Services by ensuring accurate enrollment / waiver cycles and offering insurance continuation coverage when applicable.
- Serve as a resource for students on insurance matters
- WCUCOM national representative for AOA Admissions Counsel;
- Work with student workers, when appropriate, to complete office work;
- Review StudentDoctor.net page;
- Participate in and conduct staff development sessions when appropriate; and
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Must have prior experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office Professional software
- Must have computer networking skills to participate in virtual meetings and recruiting activities.
- Must have a flexible schedule amenable to travel within the United States.
- Must have experience in proofreading and editing
- Must be punctual and able to work required hours
- Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must have the ability to work independently, complete multiple assignments, meet deadlines, exercise good judgment, demonstrate tactfulness and discretion, and maintain confidentiality.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to solve problems effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in academic medicine in the area of Student Affairs
- Bachelors degree or higher in Marketing, Business Administration, Public Health, or Education-related fields
Physical Demands
Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
- Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Must have strength and agility to move files, paper boxes, and minor office equipment.
- Must have the ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
- Must be able to drive and travel by car both in and out of state
