Sr. Engineer IV - IT Infrastructure

Description

Responsible for defining the requirements to ensure stability, integrity, and efficient operation of ALSAC’s on prem and cloud infrastructure systems that support core organizational functions.

Infrastructure systems as defined by the hiring manager include but are not limited to; Windows Server, VMWare, Active Directory, Linux Server, Network, Database, Storage, Cloud, Email and Mobile technologies This is achieved by developing and seeing to the implementation of the methods to be utilized for monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all Infrastructure systems.

Responsible for applying proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Strategy & Planning

• Defines, and leads discussions with technical peers and department leaders to assess near- and long-term IT needs and how Infrastructure integrates into the delivery of these needs.
• Define and drive strategic direction relative to the implementation / use of on prem and cloud Infrastructure technologies and solutions.
• Define and drive enterprise-level strategies and objectives for all core Infrastructure disciplines that align with, enable and support ALSAC.

Acquisition & Deployment

• Ability to lead the planning, interaction and negotiation with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure any infrastructure products and services.
• Ability to oversee the installation and configuration of on-premise and cloud Infrastructure solutions.
• Ability to define end-user policies as they relate to all infrastructure systems.
• Define and implement policies, procedures, and associated training for all infrastructure systems, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
• Report on connectivity and uptime service level agreements.
• Plan and implement any improvement, modification, or replacement of infrastructure components to include leading of life-cycle management efforts for all infrastructure components assigned.
• Conduct research on infrastructure products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.

Operational Management

• Provide leadership integrating servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.
• Oversee the planning, coordination and execution of major infrastructure implementations, upgrades, and migrations.
• Oversee the development, documentation, and maintenance of operational processes and tasks as it relates to system configurations, mapping processes, and service records.
• Oversee infrastructure and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Oversee the upkeeping of Infrastructure Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity documentation and processes.
• Senior escalation point for complex issues requiring escalation to vendors.
• Analyze performance issues reported in application, troubleshoot the issues and address root cause.
• Ensure all Infrastructure components build in high performance optimization and reliability into design. Accomplish this by attending project checkpoints and understanding the Infrastructure needs of the project.
• Establish best practices, to ensure successful implementation of solution designs through collaborative project team communication, planning documentation, system testing, and defect resolution.
• Lead project planning and project status communications.
• Participate and review local change management process and procedures related to all infrastructure systems.
• Understand and own customer requests / problem and provide technical solution in a timely manner.

Knowledge & Experience

• Advanced expertise in MS Exchange Server, MS SQL Server, Active Directory, VMware, and server virtualization.
• In-depth experience with PowerShell scripting, SAN architecture, storage array management, and network hardware configuration.
• Comprehensive knowledge of antivirus and patch management software, such as Trend Micro, McAfee, and Ivanti.
• Advanced expertise in network operating systems (Windows 10), LAN / WAN / SAN, and data privacy regulations (PII, PCI).
• Extensive familiarity with network security, including Cisco, Check Point, and Palo Alto firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
• Advanced expertise of Windows server, VMware vSphere, RHEL, and enterprise storage / SAN / Backup systems (IBM XIV, Cisco SAN switches, NetApp, Data Domain, NetBackup, Nimble, Rubrik).
• Proficiency in networking protocols and standards (Ethernet, MPLS, TCP / IP, etc.), and network management tools (Cisco Prime, NetBrain, Meraki).
• Exceptional project management and troubleshooting skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong customer service orientation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of presenting complex ideas clearly and conducting thorough research.
• Highly self-motivated , with the ability to prioritize effectively and work collaboratively in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.

Position Requirements

Knowledge ordinarily obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Information Systems, Engineering or related field plus a minimum of 8 to 10 years work;

or 10 to 12 years of progressive information system experience with 8 - 10 years in an Infrastructure or System engineer or equivalent role.

• On-call availability for approximately 7 days per month.
• Preferred candidates will be certified in one or more of the following technologies Microsoft, VMware, Red Hat, AWS, Azure, Cisco, Palo Alto, F5, or Dell Data Center Hardware.
