Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Medical Assistant

In this Medical Assistant role, you will learn from healthcare experts as you work side by side to provide care for our patients.
Our practice covers the full spectrum of plastic surgery from our injectable, laser and cosmetic surgery patients to those undergoing cancer reconstruction.
Our expectation is that members of our team offer a comfortable, positive and caring environment to all patients, regardless of how they come to our office.
You will interact with other medical offices, hospitals and various companies at all times, maintaining a professional representation of our practice.
We have a positive and supportive work environment with carefully selected staff members that understand that the importance of a team.
The successful candidate will have a degree from a Medical Assistant program or equivalent clinical experience, demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, and have the ability to react calmly and effectively in clinical situations.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Perform a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians and clinical personnel including in-office procedures, injections, and phlebotomy
- Delivers quality customer service and maintains established quality control standards
- Systematically greets, rooms, and chaperones patients / families promptly and with courtesy during the medical visit
- Verification of medications and allergies, takes vitals, records
- Document / Chart accurately and promptly in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Our office uses NEXTECH
- Scribe for provider and assist with provider with procedures
- Records patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner
- Assists providers with procedures specific to that specialty (if applicable), including, but not limited to : suture removal;
sterile procedures; equipment preparation; assist in minor surgical procedures
Explain procedures to patients to alleviate apprehension and gain cooperation. Have patient sign consent forms
Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, company standards and policies
- Processes appropriate documents in an organized and accurate fashion
- Respects patient confidentiality at all times
- Organizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms and sterilizes instruments
- Maintains quality control standards and required certifications
- Must be able to work independently in providing safe, accurate, and clinically competent care to patients
- Assist with clerical activities related to appointment scheduling, patient intake including data verification, and clinic communications for any referrals
- Answer telephone and messages in a timely manner within 24 hours

- Universal Precautions
- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Occupational Safety and Health administration (OSHA) not limited to :
i. Bloodborne pathogens
ii. Biohazard Waste
Requirements

Required Qualifications :
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Training in the field of medical assisting or equivalent education in a clinical setting.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Computer Competency and ability to effectively navigate software programs
- Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work well with others with a positive attitude and eager to learn
- Dexterity and visual acuity necessary to remove fine sutures
- Legible handwriting
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Experience
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Ability to use MS Office package or similar programs
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- ICD-9 / 10 and CPT coding experience
- Preferred Qualifications :
- At least two years of experience as a Medical Assistant
- Experience in dermatology or plastic surgery minimumin 1 year
- Understanding of Social Media
- Experience in Marketing and Sales
