Living Well Kent (LWK) is a community-driven, people of color-led organization in Kent, Washington, dedicated to ensuring all members of our community, and especially the most vulnerable, thrive.
In our work, grounded in social justice, we strive to create greater equity and economic opportunities for residents of Kent through advocacy, organizing, community education, community development projects, and gatherings that help build a strong sense of community and inclusion.
Position Summary :
The Youth Program Coordinator will supervise middle school and high school-aged youth and deliver programs in a professional, trained, nurturing manner to help develop youth resilience, increase academic performance and social-emotional learning.
The Youth Program Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating program including afterschool and summer programming, field trips, program events and workshops, and curriculum creation and implementation.
Ultimately, the ideal Youth Program Coordinator embodies a commitment to empowering young people, fostering their personal growth, and nurturing a sense of community and belonging.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Service :
- Recruit students / families for programming, ensure students / families meet relevant program requirements, and complete intake process / paperwork for youth and their families.
- Maintain up-to-date, complete, and accurate documentation of students enrolled in the afterschool program in a confidential manner.
- Plan afterschool and summer program curriculum to address the diverse needs of enrolled students.
- Provide internal and external referrals to social services as needed to ensure families receive appropriate support and wrap-around services.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Demonstrated experience or the capacity to thrive in a diverse and multilingual setting, collaborating with colleagues, clients, and partners from various backgrounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, sufficient for reporting and communicating with stakeholders and partners.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including weekends and evenings when necessary.
- Have a valid Washington state driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle and current insurance.
Desired Qualifications
AA or BA degree in human services, social work, education field OR relevant experience working with youth and young adults.
Required Credentials
Must be able to pass a Washington State and multi-state background check.
Schedule : Part-time position with the potential to transition to full-time shift with flexible hours. Must be able to be available as needed for evenings and weekends for related programming and organizational events.
This is an onsite in-person position, with the possibility to work from home on occasion as determined by Living Well Kent.
