Overview
Engineering Project Manager
The Engineering Project Manager will work closely with the Crane Contracts department manager, as well as all members of the Contracts Sales team, Estimating, shop Fabrication & Production team.
The Engineering Project Manager will primarily lead and assist with the management of new contract sales involving overhead bridge crane systems or related equipment, as well as support other projects as directed to improve the department and the business.
The Engineering Project Manager will also be responsible for all phases of project execution including Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Time Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality Management, Project Human Resource Management, Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management, and Project Procurement Management.
Responsibilities
- Project planning, execution, and communication from inception through completion
- Implement key processes from the Mazzella Management System (MMS) : KPIs, CARs, Supplier Performance, Kaizen projects, training, and support
- Direct, plan, and establish project budgets and implementation timeliness that support business goals in collaboration with production, sales
- Manage all project scope, specs and schedule changes
- Manage all project activities in accordance with the schedule and take responsibility for overall execution of work
- Document and execute all changes in scope of project
- Track and analyze technical problems to identify patterns / trends and determine cost effective ways to eliminate root causes
- Drive a continuous improvement culture / mindset with respect to project delivery and leadership demonstrated through the utilization of performance metrics and defined performance improvement plans
- Ability to lead and direct cross-functional teams to include engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and outside contractors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management, Operations Management or related discipline;
in the absence of a degree, directly related job experience serving in a project management role, where a number of years and proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement
Engineering Project Manager Experience & Skills
- At least 3 years of project management or engineered customer projects, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Ability to manage teams through influence rather than absolute authority
- Must be a team player and able to work effectively at all levels of an organization with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
- Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities; strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills are required
- Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office) are required; Microsoft Project preferred
- Must be detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined with the ability to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the demonstrable ability to communicate appropriately both internally and externally
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding deadlines
