The Senior Manager, Product Stewardship Substances of Concern is responsible for developing and leading Bridgestone Americas compliance program for substances of concern.
This Product Stewardship leader ensures that all in-scope products developed and manufactured in the Americas meets global compliance requirements for product substances in all of the markets that we conduct business.
All declarations for regulatory substance product compliance made to governments and customers are included in the responsibilities for this role.
In this role, you will also work globally to gain understanding of requirements, influence new requirements as appropriate, ensure alignment on processes and address compliance issues.
You will be expected to lead the organization towards maturity in product stewardship substances of concern, working cross-functionally and with senior leadership to develop recommendations, achieve alignment, set goals and grow the program to the maturity levels agreed.
As the Senior Manager, Product Stewardship Substances of Concern, you'll be expected to be a collaborative leader with excellent communication skills, cross-culturally, along with the ability to analyze and understand detailed technical and regulatory information and then communication that information at a high level to a wide variety of audiences, including leaders within the company. Responsibilities
The Senior Manager, Product Stewardship Substances of Concern is responsible for partnering with Sr. Leadership, Legal, Quality, Product Development, Environmental, Business, Sales, Procurement, Global Colleagues, etc.
to drive Product Stewardship and compliance with environmental product regulations. The main responsibilities of this role include :
- Own development and execution of product stewardship substances of concern strategy to support the business.
- Set and implement Product Stewardship Goals for each business area in scope.
- Monitor and understand global requirements. Ensure processes are in place to address compliance to those requirements (e.
g. TSCA, ECCC, Prop 65, REACH, GADSL, etc.)
Proactively share global regulatory landscape developments and partner with the business to assess impact and define solutions.
Develop and provide training as appropriate.
- Support creation of right organization, capabilities, systems, standards and processes to meet Product Stewardship Substances of Concern across the full product lifecycle, including into new Product Development processes.
- Establish substance compliance team with support extended across the organization (e.g., technical materials experts, supply chain, procurement.)
- Represent Bridgestone Americas with global government representatives and customers related to substance of concern regulatory requirement matters.
- Collaborate across Bridgestone Americas and globally to respond to customer inquiries related to processes / substance compliance.
- Determine and coordinate testing, compliance determinations (e.g., below or above limits.)
- Coordinate globally to align on policies for substance use in products and consistent reporting. Influence processes to ensure material / substance selection considers global restrictions.
- Ensure substances are registered and substance compliance reporting is completed per regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business, political science, chemical, engineering or related technical field
- 8 years of progressive experience
- Masters degree in business, chemical, engineering or J.D.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of management or relevant leadership experience
- Experience in the area of Product Stewardship, substances of concern, environmental sustainability and / or regulatory compliance (specifically product related)
- Experience with tires and / or mobility solutions
