Responsibilities

This is a remote position, but we highly desire someone in the Omaha, NE area. This position will support leaders in acute and critical access hospitals across NE, ND, IA, and MN.

Must have a strong financial management background.

This position is responsible for leading all aspects of workforce benchmarking and productivity for CommonSpirit Health. A key focus will be on standardizing a division’s labor management based on national guidelines, data integrity, and optimal use of the productivity and benchmarking solutions for each facility.

This will be achieved by working closely with local, divisional, and national leadership teams. The focus of this team member is to work with all of the leaders in the designated facilities, strengthen operational knowledge of each facility on productivity, and enhance working relationships with leadership.

This position will report to the System Director of Labor Management.

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • In support of the System Director of Labor Management, partner with the Hospital, Market, or Division VPs to develop and implement division productivity strategy that supports the Operational Strategy to produce measurable financial improvements.
  • Participate in Hospital, Market, or Division meetings to provide information on productivity metrics, areas of opportunity, and drive solutions to identified challenges using CommonSpirit-wide solutions and strategies.
  • Lead process improvement projects related to improving productivity within the Division by working with division, market, and hospital leadership.
  • Conduct customer interviews related to data analysis, data interpretation, and process design to identify, recommend, and solve labor management business problems.

Construct and / or lead data analysis by ensuring efficient data collection, instructing on analytical choices, and summarizing conclusions and recommendations.

Plan, organize, and lead initiatives required for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of departments and programs;

including active participation with other entities, hospitals, leadership, and staff.

  • Develop performance standards, metrics, and operation procedures within the department that support the division and national strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Create and implement processes, tools, and educational material that enable department leaders and teams to understand and interpret data and use the tools to improve productivity.
  • Understand and apply industry best practices, standards, and regulations related to productivity tools, financial analysis, auditing, and reporting.
  • Ability to use MS Office and Google Drive Suite (including Excel / Sheet, Word / Docs, DataStudio / Looker) and other relevant applications to access / extract data in relational databases (SQL) and maintain technical expertise.
  • Ability to understand, present, and explain complex financial, clinical, and productivity data in a clear and understandable manner to local, divisional, and national stakeholders.
  • Provide analytical support for benchmarking, productivity monitoring, tracking, and reporting systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate benchmarking audits, data submission, report generation, and associated manager education regarding report interpretation and improvement opportunity identification.
  • Provide analytical support, training, and education of benchmarking and productivity systems and reports.
  • Provide key analysis and evaluation of a Division’s performance to support operations improvement and other performance management efforts.
  • Partner with local, divisional, and national Finance, Accounting, and other teams on the labor budget process and assist in the development of productivity targets.
  • Lead the efforts in setting labor budgets at the departmental level by utilizing productivity and benchmarking concepts;

support local teams and the system director of labor management to finalize labor budgets in the set timeline.

  • Support the System Director for labor management in developing and standardizing internal work for the broader national team such as internal benchmarking, developing Unit of Services, etc.
  • Champion data analytics and its potential to drive critical business decisions and impact Healthcare.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience and Education Required :

  • Three (3) years in a Healthcare / Finance environment.
  • Three (3) years of experience in analytics, reporting, and communication of data output to leaders. Experience with complex data analysis methods and systems.
  • Labor Productivity experience in Finance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master's Degree Preferred).

Highly Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Eight (8) years in a Healthcare / Finance environment.
  • Four (4) years managing people in matrixed teams.
  • A strong problem solver and fast learner with demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Detail-oriented in approach to work.
