The Consultant Relations Director- East will be responsible for collaborating with the salespeople in the Institutional Advisory Group to attract new institutional assets from investors influenced by consultants.
They will promote and gain approval for a wide range of strategies including private credit, public fixed income, and public equity.
Responsibilities include strategically identifying and cultivating relationships with key investment consultants, as well as leading performance reviews and participating in new business meetings with both research professionals and field consultants.
The position will also include defending underperforming strategies.
This individual will serve as the primary contact for consultants based in the Eastern US and select Midwest-based firms.
They will partner with the Consultant Relations Director on the team who has primary responsibility for the Western US.
Teamwork and collaboration are essential elements of this role as this individual will work in partnership with their West Coast-based colleague and the Consultant Relations Associates who make up the team.
They will be expected to collaborate with Institutional Sales, Portfolio Specialists, Client Associates, and Portfolio Managers.
The US Consultant Relations team also works in cooperation with colleagues in the firm’s offices in Europe, Asia, and Australia to ensure thorough coverage and consistent messaging across all representatives of global consulting firms.
Essential Duties
- Work with consultants and sales colleagues to secure new business from institutional prospects
- Develop and manage strategic relationships with institutional consultants in the Eastern US
- Manage and support efforts to build understanding and approval of TCW strategies in private credit, public fixed income, and public equity
- Defend underperforming strategies
- Share intelligence gathered with respect to trends in the industry and strategies / solutions sought by institutional investors and their consultants
- Frequent travel required
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- At least 10 years of industry experience with a minimum of 5 years of direct consultant relations experience
- Proven track record gaining new strategy approvals, defending underperforming strategies, and helping to drive asset gathering
- Notable ability to understand and explain a wide range of public and private asset classes, strategies, and products
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong strategic relationships as exemplified by having a seasoned list of existing relationships with significant institutional consultants
Professional Skills Qualifications
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong initiative and self-starter
- Ability to work in an exceptionally collaborative team environment
- Proven ability to raise assets in private credit is highly desired
- Demonstrable ability to discuss complex public fixed income strategies is highly desired
Desired Qualifications
CFA, CAIA, and / or MBA strongly preferred
Estimated Compensation :
Base Salary : For NY based position, the base salary range is $250k - $300k. This is an anticipated range only.
Other Compensation : Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus.
