Senior Manger Implementation Services, 3PL

The Senior Manager Implementation Services, 3PL will lead the launch efforts and startups of large warehouses and distribution centers. This individual will oversee all activities from award of business to steady-state post implementation. This role will require collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team, Business Development, Human Resources, Finance and Information Technology team members as well as Client and Partner organizations to deploy the infrastructure, operations, processes and systems needed to successfully stand-up new warehousing facilities.

The Senior Manager Implementation Services, 3PL will report to the Senior Director of Operations. This role will work closely during integration activities to ensure successful partner implementations and drive adoption using effective change management skills. This leader will be customer-oriented, work with a high sense of urgency, and possess a focus on quality, value, and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Oversees the planning, execution, and completion of multiple implementation projects simultaneously. Formalize implementation plans, timelines, and project milestones, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget, while continuously reviewing and enhancing plans as needed.
Drives standards through methodologies, playbooks, solution blueprints, and best practices to gain efficiency.
Actively engages in projects and remediates any challenges with execution or satisfaction.
Collaborates with internal teams (M&A, Finance, People, General Managers) and external software suppliers to ensure a seamless transition from customer acquisition to implementation and post-implementation support.
Communicates effectively across internal and external stakeholders to explain, motivate, and push implementation projects to completion.
Serves as the primary escalation point of contact for partner-related implementation matters (scope creep, partner engagement, etc.)
Formalizes a capacity planning process that provides predictable resource planning for all projects that aligns our implementation process with our available resources.
Develop and implement efficient workflows, and labor plans, standardize processes, and introduce best practices to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.
Take proactive measures to consistently uphold compliance with health and safety regulations, fostering a culture of heightened safety awareness throughout the organization.
Implement comprehensive reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including but not limited to productivity and accuracy metrics, providing valuable insights to support informed decision-making and drive continuous improvement efforts.
Foster an environment of open communication and collaboration, facilitating regular and effective dialogue among leadership and associates to promote transparency, alignment, and teamwork.
Partner with Human Resources and site leadership to ensure a comprehensive hiring process. Provide valuable input and recommendations to support the selection of top talent that aligns with the organization's values, culture, and job requirements.
Engage in a strong partnership with customers, proactively taking measures to address any concerns or issues, with the goal of achieving exceptional customer satisfaction.
Develop formalized process and documentation for hand off post implementation to operations.

Key Attributes

Significant experience in launching large-scale warehouses and distribution centers including sophisticated systems like WMS and warehouse automation

A self-starter who is self-motivated as a solution-oriented individual to drive best practices and simplify complexity

Process-driven and detail-oriented with strong analytical and critical thinking skills

Resilient and flexible approach to work with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the vision to balance speed and ability to complete the project

Broad fundamental IT knowledge, with specific experience with sophisticated WMS applications (Softeon a plus)

Experience with P&L management, objective setting, and project management as must have

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or 15 years 3PL experience

At least 10 years implementing large-scale 3PL warehouses

At least 5 years prior experience with large-scale warehouse management

Minimum of 15 3PL implementations, with at least 7 being greenfield

PMP or similar certification preferred

Six Sigma certification preferred

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively across teams both in-person and remotely to obtain and share all necessary data, information, and recommendations real time.

Ability to travel up to 50% (or more during go-live activities) to client locations as well as to headquarters in Des Moines, IA

At least 5 years prior experience with executive-level stakeholder management
