Summary :

Position Title : Sr. Specialist, Sponsorships, Events, Foundations

Department : Marketing & Communications

Works creatively with the team and independently to increase brand awareness and exposure internally and externally, using multiple communication tactics.

Serves as an on-site resource for health system events of varied sizes and many internal and external customers. Strong budgeting and multi-tasking skills are necessary, along with effectively managing multiple project / event timelines.

Uses sound judgment and strong decision-making skills to ensure health system deadlines are met and resources are used effectively.

Serves as a community liaison in many aspects of responsibilities.

Guidance : The job requires the provision of occasional guidance and training to others. The job

does not have formal or official supervisory responsibilities.

Education : Bachelor's Degree

Field of Study : Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism

Special Training : Microsoft Word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet software, budgeting, video production and photography, social media platforms, experience in writing web content, advertising content, newsletters and press releases.

Experience : More than 3-5 years’ experience is required.

Interpersonal Skills : Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are of moderate difficulty and sensitivity.

Contact with others may involve detailed and lengthy dialogues and exchanges of information. Requires a moderate number of interpersonal skills.

Interactions involve dealing with moderately complicated problem situations or stressful encounters.

Working Condition : There is very limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Some undesirable or unpleasant environmental characteristics may occur but the physical environment is generally safe and there is minimal health risk.

No safety equipment or unusual precautions are required. The amount of time the employee may experience these minor adverse conditions would be limited to 10% or less of the workday.

A Sr. Specialist for Sponsorships, Events and Foundations will help evaluate and recommend corporate partnerships, including sponsorships and events, including some Foundation consultation, to ensure high value to the brand, community reputation / awareness, and overall impact to the organization's marketing goals.

This position requires project management discipline, teamwork, initiative, and commitment for any MercyOne service line or location within the organization.

The candidate will work independently, should be flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing situations. The candidate should also demonstrate an ability to think creatively and proactively to identify and propose new solutions and ideas.

This position requires excellent evaluation, judgment, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.

The Sr. Specialist for Sponsorships, Events and Foundations is responsible for the essential functions below, which will positively impact organizational goals.

What You’ll Do :

Responsibilities include :

Oversee a new system to receive, evaluate and manage sponsorship / event requests including responding, negotiating, tracking required paperwork and receiving / tracking results to ensure partnership delivered agreed upon requirements.

Serve as the point of contact to receive, evaluate and recommend high-value partnerships based on sponsorship package offers and exposure / opportunity at community events.

  • Help build a collaborative partnership with MercyOne Foundations to identify opportunities to Be One by sharing resources, align on statewide opportunities with the most impact, and provide event consultation.
  • Negotiate statewide partnerships related to high-priority service lines that bring high value with fair investment.
  • Negotiate engagement opportunities within the sponsorship for media, social media and / or addressable names / email capture to enhance our ability to establish ongoing relationships with attendees / participants;

and receive the highest value.

  • Consult leaders in prioritizing and committing to the most beneficial opportunities.
  • Some participation in systemwide events as approved by your direct supervisor or senior leader.
  • Some photography and / or social media posting may be needed.
  • Collaborate with service line marketing managers and marketing specialists, as well as PR, and other teams members to review opportunities and collaborate on messaging relative to service lines where applicable and / or to ensure awareness by internal / external audiences.
  • Measure and improve the effectiveness of partnerships; fully understand crossover with Community Health and Wellbeing and align where possible.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer service, including responsiveness and follow-through.

  • Collaborate with and strengthen Marcomm colleagues across MercyOne.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, highly collaborative with a service-minded orientation.
  • Flexible, and comfortable adapting to changing priorities and circumstances.
  • Proven hands-on experience in marketing or communications. Experience with innovative channels is a plus.
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills, including rewriting, optimizing, and editing content from subject matter experts.

Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with graphic design software helpful (Canva, Adobe Suite, etc.)
  • Experience with project management tools a plus
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and email marketing programs (e.g., Salesforce) or willingness to learn.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred plus 1-3 years of hands-on marketing and event planning experience.
