AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- To provide coordination, guidance and direction to the functional leads with focus on paint activities including inspection call outs, surface prep, and paint application with focus on milestone achievement and cost and schedule performance.
- Take lead role in training, and teaching craft personnel assigned painting responsibilities in conjunction with Fit-Out management.
- Coordinate, mediate and resolve craft specific production work sequence conflicts related to constraints that effect painting of lock outs and spaces onboard ships.
- Maintain a daily presence regarding the work in progress to monitor safety, housekeeping and work progress and staff performance
- Conduct and attend meetings as required.
- Ensure the work in progress is in accordance with the published schedule sequence and that the production schedules are reasonable and achievable
- Perform random validation of status reporting against the actual work being performed to ensure accuracy of reporting functions required to support Earned Value Management processes and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Quality procedures and documents with emphasis on all coatings related procedures.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with the contract requirements
- Monitor and ensure required compliance with regulatory body and classification society guides, rules and regulations
- Maintain daily communication and interaction with the Project Manager to report status and issues and have the ability to initiate and follow through with required variance analysis and associated corrective action plans
- Monitor and validate resource requirements for actuals against planned work in progress
- Monitor and validate use of rework and lessons learned processes and initiatives to maintain and promote continuous improvement
- Support executive briefings, meetings, tours and reporting as requested by the Project Manager
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE :
Amp / NACE level 2 certification required.Minimum of 8 years of shipyard experience in blasting and painting operations, with a minimum of 5 of those years in a management capacity.
Have working knowledge of NAV-SEA 631, 009-32, and Coast Guard contract coating specifications.Must be familiar with the F718 data sheets for all marine manufactured coatings.
Must be familiar will all blasting and painting equipment and inspection instruments required to perform any and all coating operations.
Must be proficient in reading paint drawings for multiple contracts.Microsoft Office proficientAbility to work independently and be self motivatedWillingness to work irregular and sometimes lengthy work scheduleThis position will involve considerable time (as much as 100%) onboard the vessel at various degrees of construction, going up and down staircases and vertical ladders at heights reaching in excess of 75 feet in temperatures which, at times, can reach extreme levels.
