Must becomfortable with fullcycle care delivery : Seating to Xrays toCleaning Operatory

Must becomfortable working with diverse patient populations (fully insureduninsured physical / mental limitations etc)

Responsible for providingpreventive oral health education and dental hygiene services topatients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Work with administrative staff / front deskstaff to schedule hygiene patients with efficiency.
• Accurately chart each patients periodontalhealth.
• Counsel patients on oral healthincluding the role of nutrition.
• Check onpatient comfort during treatment and help allay patientanxiety.
• Apply cavitypreventative agents suchas fluorides and sealants.
• Perform thoroughand gentle prophylaxis to patients.
• Accuratelyand appropriately record provided treatment.
• Take radiographs for patients as prescribed by thedentist.
• Administer local anesthetics ifallowed by Dental Practice Act.
• Performscaling root planning and selective polishing of patients asappropriate.
• Review patient health and dentalhistory forms and update them as necessary.
• Oversee cleanliness of the treatment room according tosterilization procedures.
• Counsel patients inTobacco Cessation.
• Securely store and handlepatient records in compliance with office policies and proceduresand all applicable legal requirements such as the HIPAA privacy andsecurity regulations.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICALDEMANDS :

• Work isperformed in a clinical dental setting. Contact with patients andstaff.
• Exposed to medicinal preparationscommunicable diseases toxic substances and other conditions commonto a clinical environment.
• Requires at timesworking in a fastpaced clinical setting in emergencies or duringirregular hours.

The employee must occasionally liftand / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required bythis job include close vision color vision and the ability toadjust focus.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 2 years of current experiencerequired
• Michigan Dental Hygienelicense required at upload
• An associate degree in Dental Hygiene required
• Experience with CavitronRequired
• Dentrix EMR Experiencerequired
• Spanish language proficiency isstrongly preferred
• Good interpretation skillsto maintain effective rapport with patients dentists other staffmembers and the community.
• Ability toeffectively present information in oneonone and small groupsituations to customers clients and other employees of theorganization.
• Must be familiar with MicrosoftOffice and capable of learning electronic healthcare systemssoftware.
• Previous Travel HIGHLYPREFERRED
