Accountabilities / Responsibilities :
1. JOB KNOWLEDGE
a) Demonstrates sufficient knowledge to independently perform the duties of the position as stated in the policy manual BBP
i) implements appropriate procedures in working with other hospital resources (i.e., lab, x-ray, physical therapy)
ii) demonstrates knowledge of use and care of general and patient equipment
iii) demonstrates ability to teach adult learner - on job training
iv) demonstrates appropriate procedure to follow in event of an emergency such as cardiac arrest, power failure, fire, etc.
v) demonstrates ability to supervise and assist nursing personnel in rendering safe, efficient nursing care
vi) maintains current certification in BCLS and ACLS
b) contributes to the growth and development of the department by participating in projects and committees
i) participates in staff development programs, staff meetings, and all mandatory inservices
c) recognizes areas of strengths, limitations, and goals in self, and seeks ways to improve self using this knowledge
i) enhances professional growth by accepting own responsibility for remaining current and competent through membership and attendance with professional organizations, review of current literature, and attendance of workshops related to peri anesthesia nursing.
d) adheres to and supports the established policies of the surgical center
i) demonstrates knowledge of patient’s rights, including but not limited to, privacy, confidentiality, and access to records
e) ensures that proper techniques and practices are used according to standards of practice, policies and procedures, and physician preferences BBP
i) adheres to ASPAN standards of practice and PACU protocols
Qualifications :
License or Certification
Idaho license, BLS, ACLS, and PALS required. ACLS and PALS certification expected within 1 year of employment.
Total Education, Vocational Training, and Experience
Accredited nursing school; prefer PACU, ICU, or ER experience.
