GENERAL FUNCTION

The Transitions Quality Assurance Tech / Trainer works 100% on site in Pinellas Park, Florida and is responsible for the following : daily inspection audit of the manufacturing line, training of new Shields Team Members & retraining when necessary, supporting the development of training materials back-up to several production, quality roles and supervisor as needed.

This position also plays a key part in ensuring the facility is compliant with ISO 9001 training requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform inspection audits on incoming substrate materials and final inspection audits to ensure product conforms to Inspection Standards
  • Carry out 100% inspection of cosmetic rejects to ensure the Inspection Standard is being adhered to
  • Ensure standards are up to date
  • Responsible for inspection data collection, summary, and reporting
  • Training of Shields Team Member in Shields manufacturing / inspection, supporting the development of training materials
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001 training requirements
  • Provide inspection feedback and retraining to Shields Production Team Members with support of shift supervisors
  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing yield issues
  • At times will rotate through the production line, covering breaks or filling in
  • Back-up support for QC / Analytical Lab Tech and 1st Shift Supervisor as needed
  • Provide lens inspection support to GE and R&D

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience in optical manufacturing and quality audits
  • Excellent visual / inspection
  • Experience in training others
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Teamwork oriented with strong interpersonal skills and positive attitude with the ability to work collaboratively with team members and leaders
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Office
  • Self-managed with little supervision
  • Highly organized
  • Requires presence on production floor, frequent standing, walking & reaching
  • Must be able to work with and around various chemicals
  • The ability and willingness to work staggered work hours and to work overtime if needed
  • Knowledge of clean room technology & coatings is strongly desired

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing SOPs for processes, procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts
  • Experience in process / product improvement initiatives
  • Some college coursework
