What You’ll Work On
- Estimate project levels of effort and resource requirements by using standard estimating techniques and tools, and by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort.
- Prepare project plans, schedules and budgets by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project.
- Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.
- Assure project quality by using standard development methodologies and by working with SQA to develop and execute project quality plans.
- Communicate project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.
- Resolve project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate.
- Consult with internal project groups by sharing project management knowledge and assisting or mentoring more junior project leaders in project management processes and techniques.
- Participate in external project management organizations, conferences and seminars to keep current with industry best practices in project management by joining professional associations and implementing a professional development plan with focus on project management.
- Establish and cultivate an extensive network of support to facilitate completion of assignments.
- Participate in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance and work direction, and offering counsel.
- May lead a project team.
- Participate in determining goals and objectives for projects.
- Influence middle management on technical or business solutions.
- Interact with vendors.
- Plan and organize non-routine tasks with approval.
- Initiate or maintain work schedule.
- Establish priorities of work assignments.
- Exercise judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.
- Provide engineering support to all aspects of the operation.
- Create technical documentation as required to complete scope of work of projects.
- Support operations needs as determined by department and site leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus 6+ years of related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies / relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree Preferred.
