The MDS Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all Medicare / Medicaid case documents in order to assure appropriate reimbursement for care and services provided within the facility.
Job Duties :
- Conducts current Minimum Data Set (MDS) reviews to assure achievement of optimal allowable Resource Utilization Group (RUG) category
- Oversees the overall process and tracking of MDS / Prospective Payment System (PPS) documentation and submission
- Integrate nursing, dietary, social recreation, restorative, rehabilitation and physician services to ensure appropriate assessment and reimbursement
Skills :
- Knowledge of geriatric and general chronic care nursing principles
- Able to identify, implement and evaluate appropriate objectives and interventions for residents
- Competency in clinical skills needed for facility resident population
- Competency in physical, behavioral and functional capacity assessment of long-term care residents, including use of the state-approved Resident Assessment Instrument
- Current knowledge of laws and regulations that influence provision of care and services in nursing facilities
- Knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity, and individuality of each resident in all interactions
- Able to act as a role model of unit staff
Qualifications :
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Active license as RN in Pennsylvania
- CPR Certification current
- Must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Registered Nurse
- 1+ years of experience as an MDS Coordinator or equivalent experience
- Experience in geriatric care preferred
- BS in Nursing preferred
