Job Summary : Under general supervision, serve as financial analyst, compliance officer, and resource to faculty, CAO, and Department Chair.

Independently perform financial analysis and planning for a range of departmental accounts. Independently gather and apply financial data from a variety of revenue streams and apply University financial management mechanisms to ensure comprehensive and accurate budget construction.

Identify, research, and resolve problems as well as collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial information for special reports.

Perform financial analysis and planning for a wide variety of federal, state, and private grants. Work with Principal Investigators to understand new proposals, analyze programmatic needs, and make recommendations.

Responsible for pre- and post-award processes, budget preparation, analysis, and forecasting, and for control of complex budgets.

Physical Demands : Work at a computer for extended periods of time.Work with frequent interruptions. Work occasional overtime to meet deadlines or operation needs.

Limited vacation during busy periods, such as fiscal closing and during grant / project deadlines.Work Environment : UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, .

YesQualificationsMinimum Qualifications : -Experience in financial analysis, forecasting and strategic planning to analyze and compile data and reports.

  • Experience in budget preparation bases on narrative methodological research plans and designs, analysis, and forecasting with skill to control complex budgets.
  • Experience managing and monitoring multiple accounts.-Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to analyze complex data.
  • Skill and knowledge to analyze the quantitative aspects of fiscal and budgetary issues.-Knowledge of cost allocation methods.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and private grant budgeting guidelines.-Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Analytical skills to independently and proficiently assume responsibility for coordination and completion of complex projects requiring interactions with many internal parties in a large organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of federal and private compliance regulations governing grant budgeting, financial reporting, cost-sharing standards, cost allocation, and policies regarding use of grant funds.
  • Experience using automated financial and payroll / personnel systems.-Computer skills to utilize various programs and software for word processing, spreadsheets, and website applications.

Preferred Qualifications : -Communication skills to convey recommendations to PI's, managers, and staff to ensure compliance with policy.

  • Experience recognizing and responding to problems with cost recovery, invoices, accounts, and payroll and initiate timely and appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Experience coordinating documents and projects with Business Contracts, Sponsored Programs, and Internal Audit to interpret regulations or guidelines and to recommend fiscally responsible and sound management practices.
  • Organizational skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload and to use judgment to make logical decisions.
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written, communication skills to clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals;

secure and / or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and negotiate services and / or agreements and MOU's with other departments or external agencies.

  • Knowledge of University accounting policies and procedures.
