Description :

The Fire Alarm Technician is primarily responsible for servicing, repairing, and replacing fire alarm products, programming, and repairing fire alarm systems to the prescribed standards, identifying code and non-conformance issues, and preparing accurate and timely service ticket reports.

A desired candidate is timely, dependable, detail-oriented, contains a problem-solving mindset, works well with little supervision, has solid communication skills, and is consistently looking out for the customer’s best interest.

Requirements : What You’ll Do

What You’ll Do

View electrical layouts contained on a blueprint and install according to design

Perform fire alarm system repairs, maintenance, upgrades, and replace defective parts

Perform programming on fire alarm systems

Use device manuals to repair non-functioning fire alarms and restore fire alarms to original functionality

Test fire alarm panels to make sure that every offered feature is functional

Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets, positioning and terminating cables, wires or strappings

Repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications

Ensure compliance to fire and electrical codes

Educate customers on preventative care and regular maintenance to prevent system malfunctions

Perform system and device upgrades, as necessary

Keep tools and equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, etc.

Complete and produce reports that are legible, accurate, and detailed

Invoice paperwork in a timely manner

Stay current with code requirements and industry changes

Attend and complete all required trainings, including safety training

Perform other related duties as assigned or required

What You’ll Bring (requirements)

Valid driver’s license

High school diploma / GED

1+ year prior work experience

Able to travel to multiple job sites each day

Able to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer needs

Able to carry and move tools and equipment up to 70 lbs.

Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

Able to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders multiple times a day
