We are searching for an Assistant Designer to join our amazing team. The Assistant Designer supports the design team with creative, tactical, and organizational needs and assists in achieving department goals.
The Assistant Designer should be self-motivated and will be a part of a highly creative and energetic team, playing an integral supportive role in the Boston Proper brand.
The Assistant Designer should be an energetic collaborator with an adaptable communication style and a passion for continuous improvement.
Responsibilities :
- Work with design team to partner with product development on a regular basis to communicate with vendors on the development of product throughout design process.
- Manage multiple seasons at different stages of development, while meeting the development calendar deadlines.
- Support design team in post seasonal vendor design meetings; sourcing silhouettes for line fulfillment.
- Facilitate in the development of novelty / trim embellishment layouts and / or embroidery layouts based on seasonal trends : manipulating size, color, and design.
- Assist in creating apparel flat sketches and updating artwork with direction from design team members using Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop.
- Assist in the research and development of key fabrics, print and pattern, and trims.
- Input style creation, updates and BOM information in PLM.
- Create and update category seasonal line sheets.
- Assist design team members in collaboration with the technical design team to streamline silhouettes.
- Maintain an active role in design meetings, taking notes and following up on outstanding issues.
- Manage and track samples for style creation and development meetings.
Experience / Requirements :
- Bachelors Degree; preferably in Fashion Design
- 0 3 years experience; preferably in womens wear apparel design, CAD and / or product development
- Highly collaborative, organized, detailed orientated with good follow-up skills
- Good sketching and presentation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional taste level and an eye for detail; suitable for luxury designers
- Solid understanding of fabrics, finishes, details, trims, fit and construction
- Strong sense and passion for print, pattern and details that make the brand and product unique
- Affinity for working in a team environment
- Computer proficiency in Adobe Design Suite with emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator & Photoshop; Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel & Word
