Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Program Coordinator to support our After-School Programming.

The Program Coordinator will be passionate about Harlem Children's Zone's mission : breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.

The Program Coordinator will join our Armory team, which serves as a community center, sports and recreation facility, and event space for the organization.

The ideal candidate is a dynamic, detail-oriented professional passionate about organizing and delivering outstanding events.

The Program Coordinator is integral to the management team and reports to the Director and Assistant Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree

Who You Are

  • A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in event planning, coordination, or a similar role, preferably within a sports or community center setting.
  • Must be comfortable and willing to work after-school hours
  • Strong organizational, planning, leadership, writing, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to work effectively as part of a team in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and creatively
  • Ability to work with a high-performing, mission-driven staff
  • Energetic, motivated self-starter and a team player

What You'll Do

  • Ensure that overall program operation is smooth and efficient
  • Plan and oversee the logistics of all events hosted at the Armory, including sports tournaments, community events, and external requests.

Ensure that all events are executed smoothly from start to finish.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all event-related inquiries. Collaborate with internal departments, external vendors, and community partners to ensure that all aspects of events are coordinated effectively.
  • Create and maintain a working collaboration with the other coordinators at the program
  • Collect and analyze feedback from event participants to assess each event's success. Prepare post-event reports to document outcomes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Research events and opportunities designed to enhance the program experience of the students
  • Restructure the program, as necessary, to introduce more activities and events academic and social to reward students for positive involvement in the program
  • Design and implement creative programming that speaks to the needs of the participants in the program
  • Track and achieve the goals set for the program
  • Provide leadership development, professional development, and staff training as needed
  • Facilitate and host staff, parent, and student meetings
  • Represent the program on all HCZ initiatives
  • Open / close the facility when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Schedule

  • On-Site (Monday-Friday)
  • Weekends as needed
  • Armory 9 am 5 pm

The salary range for this position is $55,000-$60,000 per year.
