Our Boards and Commissions Team within the Business and Professions Division (BPD) is currently recruiting for a Coordinator with strong logistical abilities and impeccable communication skills.

The Department of Licensing is one of the most public facing state agencies and the second largest revenue generating agency in Washington State.

Duties

As the Boards and Commissions Coordinator, you will serve as the primary individual setting and facilitating our board, commission, and public meetings.

Your engagement with all levels of DOL staff and the public will require working with varying knowledge levels and understanding of our programs.

In addition to serving and educating staff on various topics, you will also create meeting notes that allow for historical recording of board actions and board decisions.

This role requires reliability and accountability while needing self-motivation and engagement without direct supervision for your tasks.

Some of what you will be doing :

  • Maintaining board calendars, sending notices, tech set up, agenda creation, note taking, and meeting facilitation to allow for successful meetings.
  • Using Open Public Meeting (OPMA) requirements and coordinating special travel, reservations, and meeting arrangements throughout Washington State.
  • Coordinating with governor's office staff for recruitment of board and commission members including drafting announcements and recommendations.
  • Supporting the team through administrative tasks when needed.

Qualifications

What you will bring :

  • Five (5) years of work experience consulting, coordinating or involving public engagement, serving the public’s interest and input, or influencing, and making recommendations to public or private agencies, organizations, or government officials.
  • Experience must include the following : One (1) year of broad spectrum office administrative / secretarial support, including ordering supplies, reception, file maintenance, and correspondence.

Verifying own and others' work for errors and making corrections.Processing payments for invoices, vouchers, purchases, facility and equipment rentals, and special purchases.

Knowledge of OPMA, Robert's Rules or meeting facilitation, taking minutes, and transcribing minutes.

Up to four (4) years of relevant education may substitute year for year for experience. (Associates degree 2 years Bachelor’s degree 4 years)

What may help you stand out :

  • Experience interpreting laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience working with legal staff, following administrative procedures or acting as a clerk of the court.
  • Experience evaluating and responding to public disclosure requests.
  • A Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of experience planning, coordinating in public or private agencies or governments.

Additional Conditions of employment :

  • This position will rarely require overnight stays throughout Washington State.
