Position Description :
The Senior HR Generalist is a seasoned experienced HR professional responsible for coordinating and implementing the full range of Staff personnel and Payroll functions for the two largest divisions in the Vice Chancellor for Research organization.
Primary responsibilities include a variety of personnel, accounting, benefits and payroll functions. Coordinate monthly and biweekly payroll process for staff and student employees.
Process all personnel / payroll transactions and coordinate staff and student personnel administration, including recruitment, manage federal work-study program, and implement new hire on-boarding program and procedures.
Advise all levels of department managers / supervisors on employee and labor policies, procedures, and best practices. As the local expert for UCPath, TRS, Tracker I-9, etc.
perform functions on-line, including analyzing, synthesizing, and translating information for compensation, benefits, and employee services within the context of University policies and procedure and applicable federal / state employment laws.
Research and resolve a wide variety of complex problems that often requires in-depth analysis of each case involving a variety of factors.
The incumbent may also serve as a back-up to other HR functions as workload dictates or as assigned.
The Office of Business and Financial Services (OBFS) is a high performing customer-focused team of business professionals delivering core business services to the Vice Chancellor for Research organization including seven units within UCLA Research Administration (ORA) and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities (ORCA) and support to the Technology Development Group division as needed for over 270 employees.
Our focus is effective solution-oriented services in human resources and payroll, financial monitoring and analysis, purchases and reimbursements, and building operations and space management.
