SCI Summary : SCI supports people with disabilities, behavioral challenges, medically complex needs, transitioning youth, the elderly, and other populations using Maryland Department of Health's Targeted Case Management and Supports Planning work models as well as a concierge level geriatric care management and care partner model.

Position Summary : The Benefits Coordinator assists Team Members with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies all insurance billing, maintains Team Member benefit records, and ensures compliance.

  • SCI Team Member Expectations : All SCI team members are expected to : Ensure services provided follow the organization's mission statement, core operating values and policies and procedures, follow HIPAA, confidentiality and security procedures and principles;

  • maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; follow self-direction and person-centered planning procedures and philosophy;

Essential Duties :

  • Responsible for answering benefit-related questions, resolving issues related to access or the use of benefits, and validating and processing enrollment as changes are needed
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and Team Members on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries
  • Assists with the open enrollment process
  • Reviews Team Member compensation changes in the HRIS system on a bi-weekly basis
  • Processes Tuition Reimbursements
  • Administers the Student Loan Repayment Program
  • Partner with members of Team Member Operations to ensure the company intranet is up to date
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in compensation and benefits administration
  • Administer various Team Member benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, health savings account, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 403(b), and wellness benefits.
  • Conduct benefits meetings with Team Members.
  • Maintain Team Member benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Assist Team Member with health, dental, life, FSA, HSA and other related benefit claims.
  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims and costs.

Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.

  • Monitor COBRA administration.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrator. Follow up on claims.
  • Assist Sr. Total Rewards Specialist in obtaining statistics and information in renewal process of any health, life and retirement plans that benefit the company.
  • Prepare and set up meetings designed to help Team Members obtain information and understand company benefits and other related incentive programs.

Ensure distribution of required notices.

  • Education Required :

    • High school diploma, Associates degree preferred
    • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations preferred

    Experience Required :

    • 3 years of experience in benefits administration
    • Extensive knowledge of Team Member benefits and applicable laws
    • Experience with a Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS); ADP, UKG
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

    Physical Demands : Generally, presents standard office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position >

    95% of the time. Continually operates a computer, keyboard and mouse, and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, and mobile Smartphone device.

    Constantly positions self to comfortably maintain computer equipment. May occasionally be required to move about in an office setting or position office equipment weighing between 10-25 pounds.

    Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Ability to operate a motor vehicle. The person in this position frequently communicates with other people.

    Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

    IT Roles must be able to position self to maintain computers and equipment, including under desks and in server room(s). Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
