We are looking for a skilled Custom Machinery & Automation Application Engineer to join our team in Bartlett, IL. In this dynamic role, you will be the bridge between our innovative custom machinery and our customers, turning a blank slate into a functional solution.

This isn't a role for someone who gets bogged down in the details; it's for an individual who can see the big picture and deliver a compelling vision. You will take a "clean sheet" approach to every project, using your keen risk management skills to identify and tackle challenges early on.

What You'll Do

Design & Innovate : Work from a blank sheet to discover and create custom machinery and automation solutions. You'll use CAD software and your innate ability to see a solution before it exists.

Be a Risk Manager : Quickly identify and manage project risks and costs. You'll have a fast and concise approach, knowing where challenges will be and having a plan to address them.

Collaborate with Customers : Serve as a key point of contact, communicating concepts and designs clearly. Your strong writing and verbal skills will be essential for success.

Think Creatively, Act Quickly : Be a critical thinker who finds simple yet creative solutions. This role demands an 80% solution that is fast and effective, not a perfectionist who is slowed by minor details.

Document and Ask Questions : Maintain strong documentation and a consistent approach to every project. You are not a "jumper" but a thoughtful question-asker who gets to the heart of the matter.

What We're Looking For

Experience : Proven experience in custom automation and machinery.

Technical Skills : Must be proficient in CAD .

Mindset : A fast, creative, and critical thinker who is comfortable managing risk and costs. You are customer-facing and able to communicate complex concepts simply.

Communication : Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—are a must.
