The University of Northern Colorado is seeking an Assistant Director of Strategic Communication that will assist the Director of Strategic Communication in the day-to-day coverage of the 17 intercollegiate programs in addition to serving as the primary contact for assigned sports.
The position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Strategic Communications Department, with a primary focus on the following areas : media relations, internet / multimedia, publications, broadcasting, social media, budget management, and student staff supervision.
- Oversee all strategic communications efforts for primary sports to positively promote and elevate the Northern Colorado Bears brand. (30%)
- Oversee all social media content and assist in the creation of content, including graphics and video for primary sports with an emphasis on creative storytelling. (25%)
- Design and produce all publications including media guides, press releases, game notes, and game programs for primary sports. (20%)
- Maintain historical records, statistics, and archives for primary sports and serve as the lead and primary statistician for all sports. (10%)
- Assist in the creation of other additional content to be used on (5%)
- Manage game operations for primary sports and assist in game operations for other sports as needed. (5%)
- Assist in the oversight of staff including student interns. (5%)
This position will have a direct impact not only to the Athletic Department, but for the entire university. This position will assist with serving as a spokesperson for the department when necessary and will provide support with all aspects of strategic communication.
The position will serve as a secondary media contract for the athletics department and will support media relations for all sports and serve as a on-campus host for all media.
This position will work extensively with local, regional and national media outlets; pitch stories to media outlets; provide stories when requested by media.
This position will work with the Senior Athletic Staff and the Athletic Business Office in developing the communications budget and monitor expenditures throughout the fiscal year.
This position may require the supervision of part-time / student workers and interns (up to 20) involved in the game day activities, operations, and office work.
