ADESA Birmingham seeks a dynamic person to lead a dedicated team of body repair professionals in our Body Shop operation.
Our team plays a vital role in our retail vehicle reconditioning operations and the auction sale-ready process.
Responsibilities and Duties :
- Together with General Manager (GM) and Reconditioning Manager, develop strategy and planning around production goals and objectives
- Execute daily production plan and ensure target deliveries met on time
- Coordinate recruiting and hiring process and procedures for body shop staffing with Human Resources Representative per company policy
- Ensure the coordination, training, development of all personnel in OEM collision repair standards
- Maintain proper staffing levels and scheduling to correlate with throughput objectives
- Establish sustainable lean process flow, vehicle movement through work cells, and sample checkpoints for quality and repair time
- Prepare and conduct performance appraisals for direct reports per company policy. Monitor and maintain all wage and salary guidelines within the department
- Manage operations costs in accordance with objectives as defined by GM. May review budgets, P&L, and other financial and performance related data with GM.
- Ensure accurate timely billing, invoicing and other financial reconciliation
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all contractual customer, contractor and supplier agreements in conjunction with the accounting department
- Monitor and control conditions of all facilities, vehicles, property and equipment under body shop control for proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety.
Conduct periodic routine inspections to determine and ensure that standards are met per auction and company guidance. Advise General Manager or designee of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately
- Maintain necessary paint and supply inventory levels and set standards for appropriate use
- Ensure safety at all times and maintain plans and training in the event of an emergency

Qualifications :
- Experience in an automotive body shop required, Estimator and Management experience preferred.
- High energy with a sense of urgency
- Excellent operational AND leadership abilities
- Commitment to delivering excellent customer service
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Must have the ability to physically operate vehicle equipment and tools.
